Yellow Lines – Two Filter Treatments
No Filter
I took this photograph above, the other day. It weather was a dull. It was a snatched photograph. It was one of those photographs you have to do something with. Therein lies the dilemma.
I normally use Lightroom to ‘develop’ my photographs and rarely resort to filters but in this case I did.
Direct Positive
The Direct Positive filter gave the image a bit of punch without over-saturating the image – it says Yellow Lines!
Bleach Bypass
The Bleach Bypass filter says more about the day and less about the yellow lines.
I like both images for different reasons. What it comes down to is mood. Not just the mood of what I’m trying to say but how I’m feeling when I’m trying to say it. I feel filters should be a starting point but these cases I went with ‘as is’. However, I’ve been told there’s no substitute for getting right at the point of shooting 😉

Walk Home – Vent

I pass this vent as I walk home this way, every day from work. Â It’s only now, with the greenery has grown up around, that it has taken on a new significance. I took the photograph because it conjured up a Japanese feel to me.
I can travel far, without going anywhere and sate my wanderlust.

This is murpworks! mu + rp = works.
murpworks is the creative home of artist mu and writer rp. Together, we make up murpworks (as we go along). mu draws, paints, animates & builds, rp photographs, writes & tries to co-ordinate. There are a whole load of influences – many and varied.
The picture says everything we want it to.
There’s animation in the form of a Walk Cycle, there’s anonymity but also a knowingness, it’s nowhere and everywhere, it’s cluttered but there are clear forms, it’s black and white but appears colourful…
The black and white picture was taken in Warminster, South West UK. It’s location was more quixotic, rather than exotic.

Went to Beer in East Devon for the first time, a village on the East Devon coast. The weather gave heavy skies and a fine rain pervaded the day but it was perfect for walking…
Up onto Beer Head and walking over the South West Coast Path, toward Branscome
