musicfan6160 musing on black and purple.
If I’m presented with black and purple three things come to mind
- A 1970’s leather jacket with rounded lapels. I never owned one but admired it from afar
- A bedroom colour scheme my parents wouldn’t let me implement. My Father is a Painter & Decorator. He had standards and they didn’t include black and purple
- Black Sabbath
Black and purple is an iconic colour pairing. Black Sabbath’s third album “Master of Reality” uses it to the extreme. There is no image, just a typeface: purple, warping across a black background. You know you’re going somewhere when you see it on a 12 x 12 inch vinyl album cover.
I’m a big fan of Sabbath. This is where it all started – Heavy Metal which led to all the off-shoots, sub genres and as yet to be discovered progeny.
