Winter Covers
Winter’s here, Christmas is coming…
I searched long and hard to come up with this list of favorite jacket covers for winter
- Tintin in Tibet
- – Herge
- The classic snow cover by a true master. I also have a copy of this on the stage play programe and an advert for a Citroen 2CV featuring Tintin
- – Herge
- Krondor the Betrayal
- – Raymond E. Feist cover by Geoff Taylor
- Bought on a whim, I’m just about to start the Raymond E. Feist homage with Magician ad work my way up to it
- – Raymond E. Feist cover by Geoff Taylor
- Rupert Annual 1970
- - Alfred Bestall
- There are several Rupert winter covers and this is a great example
- - Alfred Bestall
- Mouse Guard Winter 1152
- - David Petersen
- The falling snow is depicted so beautifully here
- - David Petersen
- Watchmen #11
- - Alan Moore / Dave Gibbons [ Dodgem Logic | Portal | Dave Gibbons ]

- - Alan Moore / Dave Gibbons [ Dodgem Logic | Portal | Dave Gibbons ]
- Helliconia Winter
- - Brian Aldiss
- The Winter cover, when seen in context of the Heliconia series rewally conveys winter in that place. I don’t know who the artist was though.
- - Brian Aldiss
- The Mountains of Majipoor
- - Robert Silverberg /Jim Burns
- I got this book really cheaply in some sale a long time ago. It’s a great Jim Burns example
- - Robert Silverberg /Jim Burns
- The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes
- - Bill Watterson
- Bill Watterson writes the most amazing, poignant dialogue capturing childhood (in a similar but not the same way as Shultz did). Although an American setting, it works globally. The cover from the ‘Authoritative’ collection just screams winter. Get hold of a copy of the paperback version and go straight to page 105 He sees you when… and 112 blustery cold days… Absolute classics!
- - Bill Watterson
I’ll add more as I remember/find them
